Terminator: Dark Fate, directed by Tim Miller, is the sixth movie in the Terminator series. We find Sarah Connor and her brother, John, vacationing on a beach in Guatemala when they are suddenly ambushed by a T-800 Terminator which leaves a wound in Sarah far deeper than anything inflicted on her body. Twenty-two years later, Rev-9, an advanced Terminator is sent back in time to Mexico City with the purpose of murdering Daniella “Dani” Ramos.
Grace, an augmented human, is sent to counter the attack and protect her. Sarah joins Grace at the last minute to protect Dani and saves the day by temporarily disabling the Terminator. In the recovery time following the battle, we learn that Sarah has been receiving encrypted messages since that fateful day on the beach twenty-two years ago detailing the arrival of the Terminators. Grace informs Sarah that, in her timeline, an AI called Legion has taken over servers across the world and threatens to destroy humanity with nuclear weapons. This launches the three on an intense journey to save the world from these time-traveling killing machines.
The fans are furiously discussing the success of this sixth member of the Terminator family. Many have said that the plot has taken a significant dive in quality since the first couple of movies. It lacked an emotional connection between characters which has been such a beloved element in the previous films. While the CGI has always been an essential part of the Terminator movies, many argue that Terminator: Dark Fate seemed to rely on that, letting the character development and plot progression fall to second place. Unfortunately, this film may have fallen into many of the pitfalls made by the everyday generic action film.

While much of the fan base was disappointed, there is a vast majority who found this finale to be exactly what they were looking for. Even with its low moments, it was exciting, easy to follow, and even humorous. We love a good female lead, and this film certainly provided that. This group disagreed with the comments regarding the lack of character chemistry. Many fans said that the Terminator and Sarah Connor provided incredible tension and emotional chemistry. Adding new characters this far into the franchise can be risky, but the new additions were beloved by many of the Terminator fans. At this rate, we may even find ourselves with a seventh Terminator movie.
