The movie, Lemonade Mouth, is an American teen musical drama. Mark Peter Hughes created the movie in 2011. Lemonade Mouth is based on Mark Peter’s novel. April Blair did the screenplay for the movie, and Patricia Riggen directed it. Christopher Lennertz created the music for the movie. Matias Alvarez produced the movie. It also involved Debra Martin Chase as the executive producer and Gaylyn Fraiche as the co-producer.
Lemonade Mouth was filmed in New Mexico, the USA by Checco Varese, as the cinematographer. Girish Bhargava edited the film. The film was released on the 15th of April, 2011 under the Disney Channel, Martin Chase Productions and GWave Productions production banner. The film was distributed by Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney ABC Domestic Television, The Family Channel, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment and Walt Disney Television. The movie was distributed across all media platforms in over 20 countries.
In 2012, Patricia Riggen was nominated for the DGA Award for “Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Children’s Programs.” Also, in 2013, Amber Funk, the supervising music editor of the movie, was nominated for the Golden Reel Award for “Best Sound Editing – Long Form Musical in Television.” Although they didn’t win the awards, it does signify how much effort the crew put in the production.
The movie starred 5 high school friends Olivia White by Bridgit Mendler, Mohini “Mo” Banjaree by Naomi Scott, Charles “Charlie” Delgado by Blake Michael, Stella Yamada by Hayley Kiyoko, and Wendell “Wen” Gifford by Adam Hicks.
Other characters in the movie include Scott by Nick Roux, Ray by Chris Brochu, Mo’s Father by Shishir Kurup, Miss Reznick by Tisha Campbell-Martin, Principal Brenigan by Christopher McDonald, Wen’s Dad by Bob Jesser, Sydney by Ariana Smythe and a lot more.
Five high school students Olivia (Bridgit Mendler), Mo (Naomi Scott), Charlie (Blake Michael), Wen (Adam Hicks) and Stella (Hayley Kiyoko) met while serving detention for various reasons. When their music teacher, Miss Reznick (Tisha Campbell-Martin), left the room, the five began to make rock the musical instruments in the room. When Miss Reznick encouraged them to sign up for a music competition as a band, they would be competing against the popular school band – Mudslide Crush.
The band was formed with Olivia as the lead vocalist, Wen as keyboardist and rap vocalist, Mo as bassist and backup vocalist, Charlie as the drummer, and Stella as lead guitarist and backup vocalist.
The band got their name, “Lemonade Mouth,” when Stella spits lemonade on Mudslide Crush leader.
Things began to heat up when their symbolic lemonade machine was about to be moved away. The movie is filled with a lot of drama and musical dexterity. You should check it out!
